The report is a special analysis of the study published in 2013 "Life situations of and pressures on disabled women in Germany" and focuses on the life and housing situation of women with disabilities and on their experiences of violence. The special analysis is currently available in German only.
This report responds to the request for comparable stastical data on violence against women and is based on interviews with 42 000 women across the 28 Member States of the European Union. The women were questioned about their experiences with physical, sexual and psychological violence (including domestic violence, stalking and sexual harassment) throughout their lives. The study analyses national legislation, policies and programmes for the protection and prevention of violence against women and girls with disabilities. It aims at examining the causes and manifestations of violence that this special group of women face and concludes with a range of recommendations with reference to legislative, administrative, policy and programmatic measures. The publication is a short summary of the German study on "Life situations of and pressures on disabled women in Germany". In the present study 1561 women with disabilities were interviewed about their general life situation and their experiences of discrimination and violence in Germany. Structured questionnaires as well as open interviews were conducted to better understand the specific experiences of violence that women with disabilities are exposed to.
